Named after the research vessel of famed oceanographer Jacques Cousteu, the Calypso was Nikon’s first underwater camera. Water-resistant up to 50 meters, the Calypso was a bold undertaking for a company still forging its legacy as a technological innovator. The unique design and mechanisms of the camera were conceived in order to minimize its moving parts and prevent water from entering the body.
